Come Swim With Us!

Swim Team season is one of the highlights of summer at Bradley Farm—daily practices, friendly competition, and a calendar full of team traditions that help kids build confidence and friendships.

Season runs after Memorial Day through late July at the Bradley Farm Pool.

Which program is right for my swimmer?

Choose Competitive Wave if your swimmer…

  • Is a Bradley Farm or Emerald Chase resident and age 4+
  • Can pass the swim proficiency evaluation
  • Wants to practice regularly and race in meets (twice weekly)

Choose Junior Wave if your swimmer…

  • Is a Bradley Farm or Emerald Chase resident and age 4+
  • Is still building basics like floating, kicking, and breath comfort
  • Can participate in practice without a parent in the water
  • Wants a fun “learn-to-swim” path that can lead to Competitive Wave
Good to know: Many families start in Junior Wave and move up when their swimmer is ready. Coaches assess skills weekly and will recommend when a swimmer can join Competitive Wave.

Our two programs

Competitive Team: Bradley Farm Wave

Herndon Swim League (HSL)
Developmental & welcoming

The Bradley Farm Wave is a proud member of the Herndon Swim League (HSL), a developmental swim league focused on sportsmanship and fundamental skills swimmers can use for life.

  • Practices: Daily at Bradley Farm Pool with our coaching staff
  • Meets: Two per week against other HSL teams
  • Eligibility: Bradley Farm or Emerald Chase residents, age 4+, must pass a swim proficiency evaluation
  • Age groups: Based on swimmer’s age as of the date of the first meet

What swimmers learn: competitive strokes, racing technique, starts/turns basics, and meet readiness—within a relaxed, supportive league environment.

Junior Wave: Learn-to-Swim + Pre-Team

Coached fundamentals
Path to Competitive Wave

Junior Wave introduces our youngest neighbors to swimming skills in a fun, structured environment. Participants join swim team practices and work with a dedicated coaching team in a separate section of the pool.

  • Eligibility: Bradley Farm or Emerald Chase residents, age 4+, comfortable separating from parents during practice
  • Skills: floating face-up/face-down, kicking (wall & kickboard), bubbles/breath comfort
  • Progression: early stroke technique using kickboards and pool noodles

Milestones we work toward:

  • Swim one pool length independently (no more than five stops)
  • Kick one pool length with a kickboard independently
  • Float confidently on their back without assistance

Junior Wave finale: our official Junior Wave Meet near the end of the season—parents watch swimmers show off their progress, and older Wave swimmers help run the meet.
